Introducing Brian Grey, Remind’s New CEO

Now that most schools are back in session for 2016–2017, it feels like a good time for some reflection. This year’s been a big one for Remind—we introduced Activities last month, and we’re seeing more growth and momentum than ever before. In fact, we just passed a major milestone: Remind has more than 20 million monthly active users.

The last few weeks have been busy and exhilarating, and I have more exciting news to share. Today, we’re welcoming our new CEO to the Remind family.

I decided to start the search for Remind’s new CEO a few months ago, when we first got an idea of just how big this back-to-school season would be. We needed someone with the experience to lead our team and business into the next stage of growth, and I wanted to spend more time doing what I’ve always been most passionate about: talking to our users.

Introducing Brian

So without further ado, I’d like to welcome Brian Grey to Remind as our new CEO.

We set out on our search with a lot of requirements, and Brian exceeds all of our expectations. Not only is he experienced in scaling companies, but he’s also someone with exceptionally high character and integrity—two traits that David and I look for in every person we add to the team.

What impressed us even more was Brian’s personal history with education and connection to the problem we’re working to solve. He brings a unique perspective to our leadership team: He comes from a family of teachers with almost a century of experience among them, and he’s also the parent of two school-aged daughters.

Brian has a first-hand view of what it takes to support student success, and our conversations convinced me that he’s just as passionate as me, David, and the rest of the team about giving every student the opportunity to succeed.

What’s Next

David and I aren’t going anywhere. We’re still on the leadership team at Remind as well as the board of directors. Brian joining the team means I’ll be spending more of my time doing what I love—staying truly connected to the challenges faced by teachers, students, and parents.

Brian’s spent the last few weeks meeting individually with everyone on the team, and he’s been getting to know the broader Remind community as well. We invited a group of educators to the office last week to share the news, and here are some of the highlights from our conversation:

This is just the beginning. In the coming months, a big part of Brian’s learning will be at the front lines with me. In the meantime, he’s working to make sure that Remind is set up operationally to make an impact and achieve our vision.

I couldn’t be more excited for this partnership. Today, our team consists of 75 people building something that supports more than 20 million educators, students, and parents actively using Remind—and this transition puts us one step further on the path to achieving our vision.
