As we shared in our 2015 Year in Review, Remind's had a big year.These days, we connect more than 35 million teachers, students, and parents—and teachers in over half of US K-12 schools use Remind to send classroom updates, assignment reminders, and words of encouragement to students and parents. We launched features like Translate, which lets teachers translate their messages to 90+ languages. And, since we introduced two-way messaging last February, more than 1 million teachers, students, and parents participate in conversations on Remind every week.We work hard to build the best possible messaging app for education, and Remind's terms and policies need to reflect these efforts as we continue to grow, partner with educators to improve their experience, and support new use cases.Don’t worry: Remind is free to use. We also wanted to let you know about the updates and clarifications we’ve made to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
We've outlined expectations that apply to verified administrators who represent a school, district, or organization on Remind. These updates align with new features that help administrators manage, support, and connect their school communities, so we encourage everyone in these communities to review them as well. We've also put together new resources about FERPA and security to help administrators better understand our practices.
Remind respects user information. We only collect information that's necessary for providing our service, and we work hard to keep it secure—we don't sell or rent it. Remind does use other services in order to operate, such as Zendesk for customer support, and we’ve updated information about these services here. Finally, we've clarified our terms to include third-party products and services that you may choose to access through Remind.

We’ve been hearing questions about whether the updated Terms of Service and Privacy Policy change anything about the way students under 13 or 18 use Remind. Here’s the short answer: Students can use Remind the same way they always have. Students under 13 need to provide a parent or guardian's email address so we can notify adults that their students are using Remind. Meanwhile, the parents or guardians of anyone under 18 should know that their students are using Remind. Teachers don’t need to change anything about the way they create a class or add participants.
